INTIMACY
My role as an intimacy professional is to support your process and help realize your vision within the actors' boundaries. Choreographing intimate moments elevates the storytelling and allows the actors to be fully present in the work.
Guiding thoughts on intimacy:
Always bring it back to the story.
What does the intimacy tell the audience about these characters' journey?
How does this moment serve the story?
I also do Intimacy workshops on various topics including but not limited to:
Consent & Power Dynamics
Intimacy in the Rehearsal Room
Kissing protocols
Boundaries
Choreography
I have trained over 200 hours with several global organizations including Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (Ashley White, Claire Warden, Sasha Smith, Samantha Kaufman, Adam Noble), and Theatrical Intimacy Education (Chelsea Pace, Laura Rikard, Kaja Dunn). I am also certified in Mental Health First Aid - US Adult.

"The romance is fun to watch... in “Say It Somehow” (intimacy director Emily Leekha’s input shows in a beautifully staged love scene)"
Alex Rain (actor)
"I was grateful to have Emily as our Intimacy Director for "Same Time, Next Year." The whole process was a bit of a revelation for me as an actor. Having never worked with an intimacy director before, I initially feared it might rob the performance of a sense of organic spontaneity. Instead, Emily's guidance helped me and my scene partner more effectively tell the story of our two characters, giving us emotional guard rails and creating a safe, collaborative environment. By taking the "guesswork" out of those intimate moments on stage and knowing everyone's boundaries were being respected, Emily's expert direction enabled me to more fully invest in my performance. I found the experience absolutely liberating; I don't think I've ever felt more comfortable navigating those types of moments on stage."
Bruce R. Coleman (director)
"Thanks for all that you did! You made my first ID experience in a 40 year career a good one! The cast really trust each other."
